Why Good Photos Matter

Why Good Photos Matter

It’s really easy to say that photos in real estate matter. When you’re scrolling through homes, the ones that seem to jump out are inevitably the homes that have good photos. One of aspects I was interested in was how would that same home, the one with great photos, would seem to me if it didn’t have great photos. So I decided to test that theory.

On a recent shoot, I took photos with my phone as well as my DSLR camera.

Looking at the lower image you can see how much more life the left picture has. You can see through to the back yard which makes the space feel larger. It doesn't feel as harsh either.

Another key when taking real estate photos is the angle at which you hold the camera. When you're taking them of a bathroom it's natural to want to hold the camera higher and point it down, however that can have the opposite effect and make the room appear smaller. It also makes the room appear kind of wonky.

My biggest takeaway is pretty simple: good photos matter. Good photos help your home stand out from the rest. You can have an amazing home, but if people don’t feel like it looks good on their iPhone, they’re never going to want to see it.
